About KCPC

London’s Hub for Advanced Algorithmic Training

Overview

The King’s Competitive Programming Club (KCPC) is an independent, high-performance academic initiative under KCLSU, established to build a formal presence for competitive programming, problem setting, and algorithmic research in London.

KCPC addresses a long-standing gap in the capital’s university ecosystem by bringing together high-performing students from across the UK and the international competitive programming community into a single, cohesive collective.

Committee Structure

Internal Committee

The Internal Committee serves as KCPC’s primary governance body. Constituted in accordance with KCLSU requirements, it is responsible for strategic direction, institutional alignment, and external partnerships, and also represents KCPC on the Orthant Research Europe (ORE) Executive Board.

External Committee

The External Committee acts as KCPC’s executive and operational arm. Appointed on the basis of merit and expertise, it is responsible for delivering training programmes, competitions, and events.

Our Mission

Community Building

Cultivate a high-calibre algorithmic programming community across London and the UK.

Cross-University Network

Establish a collaborative network connecting students, researchers, and alumni from leading academic institutions.

Career Pipeline

Develop a structured training and recruitment pipeline linking academic excellence with quantitative finance and high-performance engineering.

Talent Development

Provide a rigorous training environment for the development of world-class problem solvers.

Looking Ahead

KCPC’s long-term objective is to anchor a permanent, institutionally recognised centre of competitive programming and algorithmic excellence in London .

By establishing London as a focal point for elite algorithmic training, research collaboration, and international competition, KCPC positions the city as a leading convergence point for competitive programming in Europe.

We aim to achieve this by combining:

1.The academic strength of the UK’s top universities

Our Network

2.The institutional support of KCLSU

3.The international reach of Orthant’s advanced computational ecosystem

The result is a sustainable environment where talented students grow into world-class problem solvers, researchers collaborate across borders, and industry partners access highly-trained algorithmic talent.

The Partnership with Orthant Research

The King’s Competitive Programming Club (KCPC) operates as a subsidiary initiative within Orthant Research Europe (ORE), the European branch of the wider Orthant Research Group.

In this capacity, KCPC functions as a London-based participant node within Orthant’s international research and competitive programming ecosystem, contributing training activity, problem development, and regional coordination while remaining independently governed as a KCLSU-regulated student society.

KCPC → Orthant

How we contribute.

KCPC supports Orthant Research Europe by maintaining technical and organisational standards compatible with Orthant’s research ecosystem, coordinating with ORE leadership, and preserving continuity across committee cycles, focusing on integration and reliability instead of formal authority.

Training Pipeline: Development of competitive programming talent through structured training activities.

Our Training

Problem Development: Contribution of high-quality algorithmic problems and review capacity.

Event Participation: Support for Orthant-aligned European initiatives and activities.

Competitions

Regional Coordination: Facilitation of inter-university collaboration within the UK and Europe.

Our Network

Research Alignment: Exposure to Orthant’s broader research directions and methodologies, including advanced algorithmic techniques, low-latency systems, optimisation, AI, and financial algorithms.

International Network: Participation in a multi-region research and training ecosystem.

Shared Initiatives: Opportunities to engage in joint events and competitions, subject to institutional approval.

Global Visibility: Increased international recognition through association with Orthant initiatives.

Orthant → KCPC

How we benefit.

Through Orthant Research Europe, KCPC gains strategic context and integration into a broader, multi‑region research ecosystem, supporting international coordination and long‑term continuity while remaining governed as a student society.
